The new pageant season is underway!
The summer flew by very quickly and a new school year is off to a great start. Much to my dismay, as the new pageant season began in August, I discovered that the Miss America rules for competing had changed and I have officialy "aged out" and will be unable to compete in the MAO system. Although the news was bittersweet, I have had a great time visiting the local pageants since the season began and it has been fun to sit in the audience and watch many of my friends from Miss Georgia last year compete for new titles to go to the 2009 Miss Georgia Pageant in June.
Here are some of the highlights of from Miss Atlanta:
Lydia and Jackie, Miss Rome 2008
Lydia and Kristina Higgins, Miss Mall of Georgia 2008
Lydia with Miss Black USA, Kristina White
Ashley, Amber and Lydia
Lydia and the new Miss Atlanta, Rachel Evans

Interviews were today!
The first phase of competition began today with the interview portion of the pageant. The ten minute interview, flew by very fast. The judges were cordial and fired one question and another. I really enjoy talking about my platform and education. As a professional educator, education seems to be a subject that most judges want to discuss.
My roommate is Kristina Higgins, Miss Mall of Georgia, we are pictured below preparing to walk upstairs for the interview. I can hardly wait until tomorrow night, but for now, I am so thankful that my interview went well. God bless!
